The feminist collective of Azpeitia has expressed its concern and condemnation regarding the events, highlighting the darkest aspects of machismo from a feminist viewpoint. They have criticized the nullification of the dignity of children and women, the use of individuals as sexual objects through hegemonic pornography, and the construction of desire and power through oppression. Furthermore, they have pointed out that patriarchal culture normalizes violence and that new technologies facilitate the spread of exploitation and abuse.
The collective has made it clear that they will not remain silent in the face of this incident and has called for a broad and firm response to a structural problem, from institutions down to each individual.
To this end, they have proposed three main axes: firstly, promoting Comprehensive Feminist Sex Education, both in homes and educational centers, to foster an education based on affectivity, respect, and consent, preventing digital pornography from becoming the primary educational reference for new generations. Secondly, strengthening support networks and early detection, demanding improvements in resources and protocols to prevent and detect child abuse and exploitation.
Finally, they have advocated for feminist self-defense and collective responsibility. They have emphasized that it is the responsibility of men and society as a whole to break with these violent models and cease supporting such consumption and attitudes. They will not accept Azpeitia becoming a place for the glorification of violence and have declared their desire for a safe, egalitarian, and solidary town for everyone, but especially for the most vulnerable.
