Zumaia will celebrate its Euskal Jai festival on August 7th. As every year, numerous activities have been organized, including a market for food and products related to rural life and Basque culture in the Foruen square. Those wishing to set up a stall at the market have until July 10th to submit their application through the electronic office.
The application form can be downloaded from the municipal website. Further details can be found on the electronic office, by emailing azokak@zumaia.eus, or by calling 943.861056 (extension 405). Submitting an application does not guarantee participation in the market; positions will be selected from the applications received and notified by email.
As is customary, the program will include a popular meal and a cider tasting. Work opportunities for groups have been planned for both of these activities.
For the popular meal, a single group will be responsible for preparing the necessary infrastructure and materials to serve the meal for 400 people, distributing the food, collecting tickets, controlling access to the tent, and carrying out collection and cleaning tasks upon completion. All tasks will be coordinated with representatives from the Town Hall's Culture Department and the meal's culinary team.
For the cider tasting, the work group will be responsible for preparing the stalls on the day of the tasting, selling glasses, serving the cider, and carrying out the necessary setup and collection tasks before and after the event. Cider from 10 cider houses will be offered, and glasses will be sold in advance.
The deadline to register for work at the popular meal and cider tasting will be open until July 10th at the Alondegia Culture House, by calling 943.861056 or emailing kultura@zumaia.eus. Based on the registrations received, participating groups will be invited to a meeting to provide explanations about the tasks and conduct a draw among the groups.
Associations that operate non-profit and sustainably in the sports, cultural, or social fields, for the benefit of the municipality of Zumaia or its inhabitants, may submit an application. Additionally, associations must meet the conditions set by the Town Hall for granting subsidies, including having their obligations with Social Security and the Treasury up to date. They must also be capable of conducting the activity in Basque, and individuals involved in serving the cider must be of legal age.
