Azkoitia celebrated its main Andramari Day today, with a full day of events and festive atmosphere, despite the rain impacting some morning activities.

The festivities began early with a street parade by the group Zubiondo Gaiteroak. Later, the Municipal Music Band and the Txalkor Txistulari Taldea also participated in parades.
At 10:50, municipal representatives, led by mayor Ana Azkoitia, proceeded to the church. The procession, comprising council members from EAJ and PSE-EE, was accompanied by the Municipal Music Band and the Txalkor Txistulari Taldea on the route between the town hall and the parish church. Juan Bautista Mendizabal carried the Azkoitia flag at the head of the procession.
The main mass, led by parish priest Felix Azurmendi and Azkoitia-born bishop Xabier Gomez of Sant Feliu de Llobregat, featured the participation of the Parish Choir and the Iraurgi Choir. However, after the mass, the return procession had to be canceled due to heavy rain.
The adverse weather also affected the parade of cabezudos and giants, which could not complete its planned route and was suspended.
At 13:00, the Municipal Music Band and the Txalkor Txistulari Taldea held a concert at Kontzejupea, drawing a large crowd.
The afternoon and evening will continue with a packed schedule of events, weather permitting. At 17:00, pelota matches will take place at the Gurea fronton as part of the Caixabank Masters Championship. Altuna III and Imaz will face Larrazabal and Zabaleta; subsequently, Murua and Eskiroze will play against Amiano and Gabirondo.
Meanwhile, from 17:30 onwards, there will be wooden games in the Ikurriña square, a Txiki Chef event in the town square, and karaoke in the Azoka Plaza.
At 19:00, a magic street tour will take place, and half an hour later, at 19:30, there will be muxikos (traditional Basque music and dance) in Balda square with Patxi eta Konpainia.
At 20:00, the Azkoitia rhythmic gymnastics team will give an exhibition at the sports center. 25 gymnasts from Zubiberri will participate, performing 16 routines.
In the evening, at 22:00, the works from the XIV Short Film Competition will be screened in the plaza, followed by an awards ceremony. This year's competition theme will be secret. After the screening, the group La Reina del Pop will perform a tribute to La Oreja de Van Gogh in the plaza.
For those wishing to extend the night, at 00:30, the group Lepue Zapaldu will perform a concert in the txosna area, and at 01:30, the group Yakovlev 42 will perform.
