Bergara City Council has reaffirmed its stance against the proposed Basalgo wind farm project. The council has decided to submit allegations to the project's environmental impact assessment, through a report approved in this Monday's plenary session.
The council requests that the Environmental Impact Declaration be unfavorable and that the prior administrative authorization not be granted. The main concerns relate to the project's potential impacts on non-developable land, the natural environment, flora and fauna, natural habitats, ecological connectivity, and the landscape, as well as the effects on nearby farmhouses, homes, and residents.
Bergara City Council believes that urban and territorial compatibility must be duly verified, and that there are no significant impacts or that they have been adequately prevented. Until these conditions are met, the council requests that no environmentally favorable resolution be issued and that no permits be granted to commence works related to the project within the municipality of Bergara.
The council had previously submitted allegations against the Basalgo wind farm project in December 2025. The park and its common evacuation infrastructure would be located in the municipalities of Eibar, Soraluze, Bergara, Elgeta, and Elgoibar.
Furthermore, Bergara City Council has requested to be recognized as an interested party in the procedure and has asked to be provided with copies of new documents and reports incorporated into the file after the public information phase, as well as the allegations received.
