Throughout August, pelota enthusiasts in Zarautz will have the opportunity to see professional players live at the Aritzbatalde fronton. Additionally, amateur matches will be available for free viewing at the Frontoi Txiki.
The Masters CaixaBank tournament arrives in town with two sessions. The first takes place today, August 16th, and the second on Sunday, August 23rd. Both events will be held at the Aritzbatalde fronton, starting at 5:15 PM.
The opening match will feature the Masters CaixaBank Serie B pairs: Salaberria and Morgaetxebarria against Zubizarreta IV and Bikuña. Following this, four professional players from Masters CaixaBank Serie A will take to the court: the pair of Artola and Rezusta will face Laso and Martija. Court-side tickets are priced at 40 euros, and grandstand tickets at 30 euros.
Next weekend, on August 23rd, another session will be held at the Aritzbatalde fronton, also starting at 5:15 PM. The first match will be from Masters CaixaBank Serie B, between the pair Amiano and Gabirondo and the one formed by Zubizarreta IV and Bikuña. Subsequently, an attractive Masters CaixaBank Serie A match will be played, pitting Altuna III against Laso. Jokinek will have Imaz on his back, and Martija will be the player from Navarre.
Meanwhile, the memorial tournament for Patxi Zapora, the Zaporra Memoriala, enters its final stages this week at the Frontoi Txiki. In the youth category, Etxaniz and Errasti defeated Gaztañaga and Beroz 22-11. In the senior category, Eskudero and Urruzola beat Aranbarri and Juaristi 22-15. Thus, next Friday's final will feature Etxaniz-Errasti in the youth division and Eskudero-Urruzola in the senior division.
The semifinals are scheduled for this Wednesday, August 19th, starting at 6:30 PM. In the youth category, the pair Bidezabal and Galarraga will compete against Zufiria and Alejo. In the senior category, the pair of Orbegozo and Sasiain will face Bidezabal and Gorostidi.
