Tribute to Footballer Igor Zubeldia in Txerloia

The Azkoitia City Council and Anaitasuna football club are organizing an event to honor the player for winning the Copa del Rey.

The Azkoitia City Council and Anaitasuna football club have jointly organized a tribute event for footballer Igor Zubeldia in Txerloia, celebrating his Copa del Rey victory with Real Sociedad.

The tribute will take place this Saturday, coinciding with the league match between Anaitasuna's men's team and Deusto. The event is scheduled to begin at 4:45 PM in Txerloia, and admission will be free for all attendees.
Additionally, Anaitasuna has planned several complementary activities for the day. These include a raffle for a Real Sociedad jersey signed by Zubeldia during the match, and the premiere of a new song dedicated to Anaitasuna by the music group Eraldatzen.
Zubeldia has lifted the Copa del Rey for the second time with Real Sociedad. Although he was unable to play in the final against Atletico Madrid at La Cartuja stadium in Seville due to an injury, as one of the team captains, he raised the trophy alongside Mikel Oiarzabal and Aritz Elustondo. Crucial to the team's progress in the tournament was the goal he scored against Osasuna in the round of 16, specifically in the 94th minute.
During this tribute event, Javier Sagarzazu (Azkoitia, 1958- Carral, A Coruña 1987) will also be remembered. Sagarzazu also won the Copa del Rey with Real Sociedad in 1987, after defeating Atletico Madrid at La Romareda stadium in Zaragoza. Sagarzazu's family will participate in the event.
