The rubber palista players and pelota players from the Oteiza club are competing today in the return matches of the round of 16 of the Interpueblos Championship, aiming to qualify for the quarterfinals.

Today, Friday, the return matches of the round of 16 of the Gipuzkoa Interpueblos Championship will be played, featuring the rubber palista players and pelota players from the Oteiza club. The rubber palista players have the opportunity to seal the tie at home, following the victory achieved last week in Zarautz. The matches will commence at 7:00 PM at the Gurea fronton.
Meanwhile, the pelota players will face off at the Toki Alai fronton in Zegama, starting at 8:15 PM. They too are close to overcoming their tie, thanks to the victory secured in Azkoitia in the first leg.
The rubber palista players hold a significant advantage from the first leg: 56 points for and 32 against. Iker Epelde won the first match 7-20, although Marcos Azpiroz and Igor Larrañaga lost the doubles match 20-16, and Jokin Aizpuru secured a 5-20 victory in the seven-frame game.
In the case of the pelota players, the locations of the home and away matches were swapped by agreement between the two clubs due to the Zegama-Aizkorri mountain race. Thus, the first leg was played in Azkoitia, where Oteiza emerged victorious with a 2-1 score. Currently, Azkoitia has 48 points in favor and 35 against. Victories were distributed across the cadet, junior, and senior categories.
Should they qualify for the quarterfinals, both Oteiza teams will face strong opponents. The hand pelota players will compete against the winner of the Aia-Oiartzun tie, while the rubber palista players have Aia awaiting them.
