Bilbao-born Egoitz Bijueska finished fourth in the men's final, while Bermeo's Naia Laso took sixth place in the women's final. Both athletes, who are specialists in the park discipline, also competed in vert at the World Skate Games currently taking place in the South American country.
Naia Laso, 17 years old and a park specialist, secured third position in the vert qualification round with a score of 71.76. Only Japan's Mizuho Hasegawa (83.50) and Shuka Kawai (74.76) scored higher. In the final, she finished 56 points behind the bronze medalist, Brazil's Helena Laurino.
In the men's qualification, Egoitz Bijueska achieved fourth place with 79.73 points. In the final, American JD Sánchez (87.66) and Brazilian Gui Khury (85.56) took the top two spots, followed by Japan's Ruku Inui (80.40) in third.
Bijueska's career in the vertical discipline includes notable achievements in 2025, such as third-place finishes at the Tony Hawk's Vert Alert and Vert Battle. Furthermore, at the age of 14, he became the first skater from the Basque Country to successfully land a 900.
Naia Laso, on her part, is the Spanish champion in vert and finished seventh in park at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
