Julen Lopetegi Secures Second Place in Spanish Middle Distance Triathlon Championship

The triathlete from Azpeitia won the silver medal in the middle-distance championship held in Pamplona.

Azpeitia triathlete Julen Lopetegi secured second place in the Spanish Middle Distance Triathlon Championship held yesterday in Pamplona, finishing the race in 03:25:15.

Approximately 2,000 triathletes competed in the professional circuit. The race began at the Aoiz reservoir with a two-kilometer swim. This was followed by an 80-kilometer cycling stage across the challenging roads of Navarra, leading to Pamplona.
Finally, they completed an 18-kilometer run through the Old Town of Pamplona, finishing in the Plaza del Castillo. Although he started further back in the swim, Lopetegi delivered a strong performance on the bike, taking second place in that segment.
The athlete from Azpeitia maintained this position during the run as well, ultimately crossing the finish line in second place. He took 3 minutes and 22 seconds longer than the winner to complete the event.
