The Gipuzkoa Rural Sports Federation held its Scything Speed Championship today in the fields of Sarobe farmhouse in Anoeta, with Izadi Arrospide and Julen Gabirondo claiming victory in the women's and men's categories, respectively.

The competition featured two distinct categories: women had to scythe two plots of 50 square meters each, while men tackled two plots of 100 square meters each.
In the women's standings, Izadi Arrospide from Leaburu (4.18) triumphed, ahead of Inge Goikoetxea (5.31) and Lorea Zunzunegi (5.53), both from Gaztelu. The new champion is eighteen years old, while the second and third place finishers are 17 and 16 years old, respectively.
In the men's category, Julen Gabirondo from Urnieta (4.12) secured the win, surpassing Mikel Lizartza (4.32), Oier Urkola (4.45), Jokin Etxeberria (4.53), Kepa Otegi (4.55), Amaiur Arrospide (5.09), and Eneko Bilbao (9.46).

"Vizcaya does not hold a scything speed championship, which is why Eneko Bilbao from Zamudio participated as a guest. Despite finishing last, he received the fewest penalties; therefore, the Biscayan scythed the plots most cleanly."
