The Legazpi City Council, along with Mayor Eric Gálvez, Sports Councilor Josu Galilea, and organizers Mikel Salegi and Andoni Etxaleku, presented the main details of the third Korosti Trail edition yesterday. Etxaleku explained that the race will take place on October 18, maintaining last year's routes and distances but with a slight schedule change: the long race (23.4 km) will start at 9:30 AM and the short race (13.4 km) at 10:15 AM.
A total of 446 participants will compete, with 125 being women. Local participation is significant, with 189 residents of Legazpi registered. "We see people with very different profiles on the lists and we are very happy," stated the organizers. Additionally, around 80-90 volunteers will provide assistance on the event day.
This year, the race strengthens its social and ecological commitment. Regarding sustainability, they will collaborate with the entity Etiketa Berdea to ensure environmental respect. Furthermore, as it is a scoring event for the Goierri League, one euro from each registration will be donated to the Gipuzkoa Association Against Cancer.
The main novelty will be the Korosti Trail Txiki, scheduled for the eve, Saturday, October 17, for children and young people aged 4 to 14, with distances adapted to age. It will kick off at 5:00 PM in Euskal Herria square. Organizers encourage all citizens to attend and enjoy the festive and mountain atmosphere.
“"We can say that in this third edition it has become a race for the people of Legazpi and we feel it as our own."
The organization expressed gratitude to the City Council and local businesses and services for their support since the first year. To foster a festive atmosphere, there will be inflatables, 'talogiles' (traditional Basque food vendors), and a raffle in collaboration with local commerce.
