Alain Kortabitarte, a member of Basque Team, has successfully qualified for the quarter-finals in the park discipline at the Asunción World Championships. The highlight of his performance came in his first attempt, where he scored a notable 60.11. The skater from Errenteria received high marks from the judges for his speed and aerial maneuvers.
Although he did not surpass this score in his subsequent two runs, Kortabitarte's achieved mark was sufficient to place him among the top 32 competitors of the day and secure his spot in the quarter-finals. Kortabitarte himself commented that he did not expect to execute his planned tricks so well, and even mentioned incorporating some with more improvisation.
On the other hand, Peio Gonzalez did not fare as well. The other Basque Team skater in competition failed to qualify and could not showcase his full potential. He fell in all three of his attempts and sustained an injury during the last one. He has been taken to the hospital for further examination, although no fracture has been detected in his left ankle.
The quarter-finals will take place tomorrow at the skatepark located in the Asunción Olympic Park. The women's competition will be held first, featuring Naia Laso from Bermeo. Following that, it will be the men's turn, which will include Alain Kortabitarte and the World Champion in the specialty, Egoitz Bijueska.
