Eibar is set to host the fifth stage of the Itzulia on April 12, a challenging race with three passages through the city, leading to significant traffic disruptions.

The city of Eibar is getting ready for the arrival of the fifth stage of the Itzulia, scheduled for Friday, April 12. This stage, named Eibar-Eibar, is considered by organizers to be the toughest of the race, covering 176.2 kilometers with an accumulated elevation gain of 3,841 meters. The event will cause significant traffic disruptions throughout the city, as the peloton will cross the municipality three times.
Team presentations will take place between 11:41 and 12:47, with the neutralized start from Unzaga square at 12:57. The race's three passages through Eibar will necessitate traffic closures or restrictions at key points along the urban route. Major affected areas include Azitain, Arrate, Otaola, Barrenengua, Amaña, Barrena, Urkizu, Errebal, and Toribio Etxebarria.
The peloton's first return to the city is expected around 15:34, as riders ascend through the Azitain industrial estate towards Arrate. The second passage is anticipated around 16:30, entering from Bizkaia and traversing Otaola Avenue, Barrenengua, and Amaña before tackling another climb. The third and final entry into Eibar will be from Gipuzkoa via Azitain, followed by a route through Barrena, Urkizu Promenade, and Errebal before heading to the finish line in Toribio Etxebarria, where arrival is projected around 17:17.
From 15:30 onwards, traffic will also be affected in the direction of Bilbao. Race organizers have highlighted this stage as crucial due to the prominence of the Eibar area in the sporting outcome. The stage, starting and finishing in Eibar, will pass through various roads in Debabarrena, Urola Kosta, and Bizkaia. Consequently, there will be disruptions on the AP-8 in Eibar, Elgoibar, and Zestoa. In Eibar, between 12:30 and 13:30, and again from 15:05 to 17:45, the exit towards Behobia will be completely closed.
