The Degree, which will be taught at EDA's campuses in the capital of Álava and Laguardia, will last four years and has been designed to prepare professionals capable of driving the evolution of the beverage world, "responding to challenges such as climate change, the evolution of consumption habits, and the incorporation of new technologies like artificial intelligence".
The mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Maider Etxebarria, highlighted the project's importance for the city, stating that "it is related to creativity and the search for opportunities in a sector essential for the local economy." The students, explained the mayor, "will learn the keys to each beverage, develop real projects, and ultimately connect innovation, entrepreneurship, and competitiveness."
Etxebarria was joined at the event by the Minister of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture, and Fisheries, Amaia Barredo, and the Director General of Basque Culinary Center, Joxe Mari Aizega. The meeting also brought together professionals from various sectors.
The Degree in Wine and Beverage Science, Technology and Innovation is scheduled to begin its activity in the 2027-2028 academic year. The Vitoria-Gasteiz campus will focus on the beverage universe as a whole, while in Laguardia, students will learn "in direct contact with the vineyard, the territory, and the winemaking processes."
The established price for the 2027/2028 academic year is 11,903 euros. All information regarding the admission process is available on the websites of both Basque Culinary Center (www.bculinary.com/es/grado-eda) and EDA Drinks & Wine Campus (www.eda-drinksandwine.com). EDA also plans to launch various scholarship programs, currently in the definition phase.
