The Local Police of Vitoria-Gasteiz arrested a 35-year-old man on Monday as the alleged perpetrator of a violent robbery offense, after he stole products from a commercial establishment and assaulted an employee.

The incident took place shortly before 7:00 PM when a call to 092 requested police presence at a commercial establishment on Alto de Armentia Street. The caller reported that a man was being pursued by store personnel after stealing items from inside.
Thanks to the communication from the Operations Center, which broadcast the escape route, a patrol located the man on Human Rights Avenue. There, two employees, with the assistance of an off-duty local officer, had him detained.
After confirming that he had passed through the checkout area minutes earlier without paying for the products he was carrying, and that he assaulted one of the workers during a struggle to escape when apprehended, he was taken into custody.
