Getxo City Council will open a new public nursery school in the hexagonal building of the Kresaltsu public school, marking the second public center in the municipality after Egunsentia in Algorta.

The new facility will include one classroom for children aged 0 to 1 and two classrooms for children aged 1 to 2. The project was supported by a 612,000 euro grant from the Basque Government, funded by the European Union's Next Generation funds, with an estimated total cost of 900,000 euros.
Registration is open for families with children born in 2025 and 2026. Applications must be submitted in person at the Getxo Citizen Service Offices located at 3 Torrene Street (Algorta) or 13 Las Mercedes Street (Areeta/Romo), from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 14:00.
The Haurreskolak Consortium has stated that families already holding a spot may request a transfer, provided they submit a new application. According to the admission schedule, provisional lists will be published on July 17, with the final lists expected on July 27.
