The Sahatsa Dance Group will open this year's San Juan's Eve celebration in Azkoitia with the Ezpata Dantza, marking the group's 50th anniversary.

The Sahatsa Dance Group will make this year's San Juan's Eve celebration in Azkoitia special, as dancers and pipers will perform the Ezpata Dantza. The performance, organized to commemorate the group's 50th anniversary, will feature 60 dancers and 10 pipers.
The dancers will depart from Kale Nagusia at 21:25, and in the Town Square, mayor Ana Azkoitia will present the Azkoitia flag to the group's leader. Following this, the group will perform the Gipuzkoa Ezpata Dantza, proceeding from Plazaberría to Balda Square, where they will offer a show.
The Ezpata Dantza was traditionally danced on special occasions, and Sahatsa has performed it infrequently in Azkoitia. Previously, they danced it in 2014, 2018 (during the group's 40th anniversary), and 2022, as well as on San Juan's Eve in 2024, coinciding with the 700th anniversary of the Azkoitia Town Charter.
This year, the Darahli Association will light the bonfire, after which the Sahatsa Dance Group will continue with their performance in Balda Square. To conclude, residents will have the opportunity to participate in Plaza Dantzak, led by Aitor Sorazu.
The festive atmosphere will begin in the afternoon. The Bizkargi Music and Dance School and the Txalkor Piper Group will present 'Dantzarien Doniene Saioa' at 19:15 in Balda Square.
