According to the PNV municipal group, the results of the 2025 budget liquidation reflect a solid and coherent government action. The Jeltzale group emphasized that the municipal budget is a vital tool for realizing their vision of a vibrant and sustainable town, guaranteeing the quality of life and opportunities for Zarautz residents.
Housing remains a strategic priority. In 2025, 60 social housing units and 91 subsidized homes were delivered in Salberdin, and an agreement was reached with the Basque Government for the promotion of 230 homes in Irita. Furthermore, significant progress has been made towards constructing new subsidized housing in Amillubi, reinforcing the municipal strategy to facilitate access to housing, especially for young people and vulnerable groups.
Investments in infrastructure and basic services have also been highlighted, including improvements to the sanitation and supply networks in Balea, Madoz, Zumalakarregi, and Mitxelena streets, as well as in Martiñene square. Paths around Sanz Enea were renovated, and the new promenade paving also represented a significant investment. Tree plantings in Amalur park and Lapurdi street were also noted.
Important projects were completed in 2025, such as the new headquarters for the Municipal Police and the commencement of the rehabilitation of the Santa Clara convent. Accessibility has also improved with the construction of three elevators in Vista Alegre. An agreement was also reached in 2025 for the acquisition of land necessary for the expansion of the Asti sports facilities, a crucial infrastructure for promoting sports in Zarautz.
Culture and social cohesion have been key areas of action, with extensive programming at Sala Modelo, exhibitions at Sanz Enea, Torre Luzea, and the Market Square, as well as events like Kalerki and summer concerts. Efforts to promote the Basque language continue, guided by the AROA Strategic Plan for Basque, approved in 2025. Regarding mobility, the City Council has made 134 garage spaces available in the municipal car parks of Iñurritza and Gipuzkoa kalea, and construction has begun on the Zarautz bypass in collaboration with the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council.
“"The budget execution data confirm that Zarautz is moving in the right direction, with management based on planning, proximity, and tangible results."
