Arraun Lagunak Wins Fifth Kontxako Bandera

The San Sebastián rowing team secures a dominant victory, matching the records of San Juan and Galicia, while Zarautz finishes eighth.

Arraun Lagunak did not falter and has secured its fifth Kontxako Bandera (10:31.32), matching the records set by San Juan and Galicia.

The San Sebastián rowing team achieved a strong victory today, surpassing Zarautz, which concluded the competition in eighth place in the general classification.
The consolation race was fiercely contested between Orio and Zarautz, alongside Hibaika and Donostiarra. Hibaika took the lead from the start, but the other boats maintained pace during the outward leg.
At the turn, Hibaika emerged in front, followed a second later by Orio and two seconds behind by Donostiarra and Zarautz. However, on the downwind leg, the Errenteria-based trainera increased its pace, clearly pulling ahead as they entered the bay and winning the heat with a time of 10:49.70.
The competition among the trailing three was very close, with Donostiarra eventually overtaking Orio just meters from the finish line, securing second place (10:59.26). Orio took third place in the heat (10:59.60), while Zarautz finished fourth (11:01.28).
This afternoon, starting at 7:00 PM, the Zarautz rowers will be welcomed in town, beginning with txistularis from the Musika Plaza, followed by an appearance on the town hall balcony.
In the overall standings, Arraun Lagunak was the winner (10:31.32), followed by San Juan (10:41.82), Tolosaldea (10:46.68), Astillero (10:48.04), Hibaika (10:49.70), Donostiarra (10:59.26), Orio (10:59.60), and Zarautz (11:01.28).
