The event aims to acknowledge and honor individuals and groups from Orio who have made significant contributions throughout the year, highlighting their careers, achievements, and values. Citizens can propose candidates through this form, submitting their merits and supporting documentation.
The selection process for this year's honorees will follow specific guidelines outlined in the Herri-aitortza 2026 document. Candidates must be registered residents of Orio or affiliated with a local cultural or sports association. Fictional characters, previously honored individuals, deceased persons, and high-ranking public officials are not eligible.
The deadline for submitting proposals is November 15th. Following this, a technical committee will review the nominations, and a jury will make the final decision. The jury will consist of representatives from four randomly selected local associations and one municipal technician.
The recognition ceremony for this year's honorees will take place at the end of the year. The Town Hall will announce the exact date and further details later. During the modest ceremony, honorees will receive a symbolic award created by a local artist.
