Euskal Herria boasts an endless array of spectacular locations to enjoy nature, the sea, and unique sunrises and sunsets. Among these, the municipality of Zarautz holds a special charm, offering a unique beach and natural environment.
Karlos Arguiñano consistently champions this town, showcasing it on his program 'Cocina Abierta' and his social media. This Wednesday, he shared a video he recorded of his son, Joseba Arguiñano, practicing yoga on Zarautz beach. "Joseba starting the day in the best way," the chef wrote alongside the footage, capturing a stunning sunrise.
The chef's passion for Zarautz is evident daily. Just on Tuesday, he posted a photo of the Zarautz sunset taken from his restaurant: "It seems summer has arrived a bit early… And it's so pleasant to see the terrace like this, with people enjoying themselves, the sun setting, and Zarautz gifting us such beautiful afternoons," he commented.
The chef frequently shares images of his homeland, particularly from this Gipuzkoa municipality.
Far from considering retirement, Karlos Arguiñano is currently immersed in filming his documentary. He announced this during his last visit to '[El Hormiguero](https://www.noticiasdegipuzkoa.eus/tags/el-hormiguero/)' in December 2025, revealing that a documentary about his life, tracing back to his childhood, would soon be released. The chef admitted to facing financial difficulties in the 1980s after taking out a significant loan to build a hotel, only to be hit by an economic crisis that drastically reduced his business. It was then that the opportunity to host his own television show arose, which he credits with "saving" him, and he has been on air for nearly 40 years.
The Gipuzkoa native boasts one of the world's most prestigious restaurants and gathers millions of viewers daily for his cooking shows. He has spent 38 years in front of the cameras and expressed his gratitude to his long-time followers, stating they have "pulled me out of all my troubles and made me very happy."
