Julen Lopetegi runner-up in Spanish Middle Distance Triathlon

The Azpeitia-based triathlete secured the silver medal in the race held in Pamplona last weekend.

Triathlete Julen Lopetegi from Azpeitia has been crowned the runner-up in the Spanish Middle Distance Triathlon championship, in the event held this past weekend in Pamplona.

The athlete, representing the Biscay-based team Alusigma Peñota Dental, crossed the finish line just over three minutes after the winner, Nacho Gálvez, who set a new record for the event with a time of 3 hours, 21 minutes, and 52 seconds. Aimar Murua claimed the third spot on the podium.
The competition saw over 2,000 triathletes participate, facing a challenging course that comprised 2 kilometers of swimming, 80 kilometers on the bicycle, and an 18-kilometer run.
