Through the 'Hondartzak Denontzat' program, developed in collaboration with the Red Cross, an adapted bathing service will be offered at Malkorbe beach in Getaria and at the beach in Hondarribia. This service provides comprehensive assistance to people of all ages who require help to enter the water.
The service will be delivered by specialized professionals from the Red Cross, who are trained and qualified to use adapted technical aids. The service will be available from June 13th to September 13th, every day of the week, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
The beaches of Getaria and Hondarribia are equipped with accessible infrastructure, including adapted changing rooms, restrooms, and showers, shaded waiting areas, amphibious chairs, and other technical aids that ensure safe access to the sea.
The program is particularly aimed at users of residences, supported housing, and day centers within Gipuzkoa's social services network. For these individuals, adapted transportation is also provided from the centers to the beaches. However, individuals living in their own homes who attend with family members or caregivers can also utilize the service.
Furthermore, the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council continues its collaboration with the Hegalak Zabalik Foundation to develop the DENUR barrier-free bathing program, offered at La Concha beach in Donostia.
