The municipality of Elduain, along with other towns in the Tolosaldea region, is participating in a research project by the Aranzadi Science Society.

The project aims to shed light on the siege of Tolosa and the battle of Belabieta, as well as to gather documentation about priest Santa Cruz. The research is led by Karlos Almorza, a doctor in History.
On the occasion of the centenary of priest Santa Cruz's death, the Elduain City Council asked the science society to study the possibility of bringing the body of the priest, a native of the town, from Colombia to the Basque Country. After several procedures, Almorza has announced that the request has been accepted, although there is no specific date yet.
The council notes that little is known about priest Santa Cruz, but it is known that he died in Colombia in 1926.
