Asteasu will host an event of the Basque Mountain Duathlon Circuit this Saturday, organized by the Anttine club and the Danena Cycling School.

The adult duathlon will consist of two sectors: a 7.18 km mountain race with 302 meters of elevation gain and a 15.76 km mountain bike section with 631 meters of elevation gain. The start and finish will be at Elizmendi square, with a circuit designed to reach the Saskarate farmhouse, passing through the cemetery.
Aritz Segurola, a member of Anttine, explained that after last year's success, they decided to continue this year. Many local duathlon enthusiasts are eager to start the circuit, and registrations are progressing well. Good weather is expected, promising an enjoyable event for both participants and spectators.
The organization of these races greatly values the effort of volunteers; this year, around 40 local residents have committed to assisting. Support from the City Council and various local businesses, companies, and commercial brands has also been acknowledged by Segurola.
In addition to the usual prizes, a special award will be given to the first mixed pair to finish, aiming to promote female participation.
A Children's Duathlon has also been organized in Elizmendi square on Saturday morning. The races will be held in different categories, with on-site registrations available from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
The Basque Mountain Duathlon Circuit has several upcoming dates: September 19th in Asteasu, September 26th in Zarautz, October 3rd in Durango, October 17th in Kanpezu, October 21st in Aia, October 31st in Ibarra, November 14th in Idiazabal, November 21st in Bidania-Goiatz, and November 28th in Aduna.
