Yesterday marked the 78th anniversary of the recognition of the State of Israel's independence, and today is observed as Nakba Day in Palestine, commemorating the expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homes.

Azkoitia has expressed solidarity with Palestine, turning its back on the State of Israel. As part of the Week of Support for Palestine, various citizens have organized numerous activities. This afternoon, Anari performed an acoustic concert in Portaleburu, with dozens of people gathering among the panels and images of the Gernika-Palestine exhibition, which has been open since Monday.
The planned rally, originally scheduled before the concert, eventually took place, with many citizens joining the mobilization. They chanted to Israel that the Palestinian people's struggle is for "universal justice" and against "all genocide," believing it to be for "human and peoples' rights." Upholding the "legitimate rights" of Palestinians, they firmly declared they would denounce "to the fullest extent" Israel's "heartless Zionist and genocidal war policy," as well as the complicity of those who support it. They emphasized that they would not accept any solution other than the recognition of Palestine and the end of the Israeli occupation.
They recalled that nearly eight decades ago, the State of Israel expelled over 700,000 Palestinians from their homes and lands, and that today, their descendants continue in the same situation, "fleeing the Zionist occupation, drones, bombs, and attacks." They denounced that the "massacres" have continued to this day, and that the genocide Israel has been committing in recent years in both Gaza and the West Bank is "the same," even if the repression in the latter has been "more subtle." "It is merely a continuation of what began with the creation of the State of Israel," they warned.
According to the organizers, Israel has extended its offensive to "the entire region" in recent months with the "military and diplomatic support" of the United States, and currently, there are "sounds of war" in both Iran and Lebanon. "The sounds of imperialism dominate the Middle East," they stated, clarifying the objectives: "the exploitation of economic resources, the control of new markets, and the increase of political and military power." They denounced that "an entire people is being massacred for the interest of a few."
Remembering those fighting for Palestine internationally, the organizers stated that it is also up to individuals to stop the "massacre," with each person contributing their part. They cited the boycott campaign against South African apartheid as an example, and in that vein, they called on citizens to boycott Israel as well. "Boycott Israeli products, boycott companies, institutions, diplomatic relations, cultural agents, singers, writers, athletes… Let them see that we do not accept the massacre they are committing."
