The Gipuzkoa Intermunicipal Championship continues, but after a strong competition, Aia has been eliminated from the tournament in the handball modality. The return matches of the round of 16 were played this weekend, and although Aia won 2-1 in the first leg, the result was different this time in Oiartzun. The cadet match was very close, with the pair formed by Atorrasagasti and Illarramendi winning 18-22 against the Oiartzun team. However, in the junior and senior categories, the outcome was different: Aizpuru and Iruretagoiena lost 22-9, and in the senior category, Albeniz and Orbegozok lost 22-8.

In the first leg matches, Aia defeated Oiartzun 2-1, but as Oiartzun achieved the same result in the return leg, the total number of points was considered, and Oiartzun advanced. Oiartzun scored 36 more points; consequently, Aia is out of the Intermunicipal Championship.

Aia is out of the handball competition, but in another modality, rubber pala, the players from Aia will begin their competition now. The return matches of the round of 16 were played this weekend. Azkoitia and Zarautz competed against each other, and the results favored Azkoitia: just like in the first round, Azkoitia won 2-1 on Friday, at home. The rubber pala players from Azkoitia will have Aia, who has not yet entered the competition, waiting for them next weekend.
