The project to improve the bidegorri between Usabal and Amaroz in Tolosa is underway, thanks to an agreement between the Provincial Council and the City Council, aiming to ensure safer coexistence between pedestrians and cyclists.

The Gipuzkoa Provincial Council and the Tolosa City Council have signed an agreement for the execution and financing of works to improve the bidegorri connecting Usabal and Amaroz. This project will optimize the section under the N-I bridge, continuing the cycle path completed a few months ago next to the entrance of the Iurreamendi residence, and offering a more coherent connection to the new section towards Leaburu-Txarama.
Currently, at this point under the bridge, there is only one sidewalk, which forces cyclists and pedestrians to share the same space without adequate signage. Therefore, the plan of both institutions contemplates the construction of a 4.5-meter wide section, with 2.5 meters reserved for the bidegorri and 2 meters for the sidewalk. This will make coexistence between both user profiles safer and more orderly.
The Provincial Council has indicated that the new section will be protected from road traffic, which will entail significant changes. In addition, the rainwater drainage system in the area will be improved, and new lighting will be installed. The estimated budget for the project amounts to 339,045.07 euros, including VAT, and the execution period will be three months. The Provincial Council will contribute 53% of the financing. The start date of the works has not yet been determined, as the public contract for the work must first be put out to tender.

"Bidegorris are a key piece to advance towards more sustainable mobility, but they are also spaces highly valued by citizens for leisure and physical exercise. It is our commitment to continue completing and improving this network."
