Santurtzi is hosting the tenth edition of "Santurtzi de pintxos-Santurtzi Pintxotan", a gastronomic contest that will take place between October 23 and November 14. The initiative will cover different dates and spaces in the municipality, and will feature the participation of 27 hospitality establishments.
The gastronomic route will start in Mamariga on October 23 and 24, continue in Mamariga and the center on October 30 and 31, and conclude in the central area on November 6 and 7, and 13 and 14. On Fridays, the hours will be from 12:00 to 15:00 and from 19:00 to 21:00, and on Saturdays from 12:00 to 15:00.
Regarding this, the Councilor for Tourism, David Orue, stated that "it is an opportunity to highlight the quality and diversity of our hospitality, to revitalize our neighborhoods, and to encourage both Santurtzi residents and visitors to discover the municipality in a different way. Gastronomy is an essential part of our identity and also an important tourist attraction."
Through this initiative, the Santurtzi City Council aims to bring tourist activity closer to local commerce and hospitality, generating movement in different areas of the municipality and offering a gastronomic experience that allows visitors to get to know Santurtzi from a close and authentic perspective.
The participating pintxos can be tasted for 2.50 euros. Those who try the pintxos can vote for their three favorites, awarding 5 points to the first, 3 to the second, and 1 to the third. For a vote to be valid, at least three pintxos must have been tasted. Completed ruteros must be submitted to the Santurtzi Tourist Office or the Mamariga Kulturgune within the established deadline.
Once the contest concludes, the organization will count the votes and announce the results during the awards ceremony. Those who submit a correctly completed and stamped rutero will receive a gift from the organization upon obtaining stamps from six different establishments. Additionally, those who have collected at least three stamps from different establishments will participate in the prize draw.
Participants who submit a rutero with a minimum of three stamps from different establishments at the Santurtzi Tourist Office will enter a draw for: a weekend in Laguardia (in collaboration with DELA and local businesses), a sailboat trip along the Basque coast with Lamarencalma, a whale watching excursion with Verballenas, and five SPA Kabiezes vouchers for two people.
Furthermore, the first 50 participants to collect stamps from all six bars will receive a wooden spoon as a gift. Likewise, the first 50 participants who manage to get stamps from all the bars will receive a €10 voucher to spend at establishments belonging to Comercios Unidos de Santurtzi.
Orue concluded by saying, "These types of initiatives are a way to boost our municipality's hospitality, as they are very well received by the public. We want to express our gratitude to the collaborating tourism companies and all the hospitality establishments; and, of course, encourage citizens to enjoy these creations that will surely surprise us all."
