The Ertzaintza has arrested a 51-year-old man in Santurtzi for allegedly forcing open a bar's shutter and stealing money from a slot machine, an incident that occurred in the early hours of April 9.

According to the Security Department of the Basque Government, a woman arrived at her bar to find the entrance shutter and the establishment's door forced open. Upon entering, she confirmed that money had been stolen from a recreational machine.
Thanks to a camera installed on the premises, it was confirmed that the robbery had taken place that same morning. The images showed the perpetrator hitting a slot machine with a hammer and then throwing it to the ground to open it.
The suspect was identified by the officers in charge of the investigation. He is a Spanish national with numerous previous arrests for crimes against property. In fact, since 2025, he has been involved in robberies at a total of eight hospitality establishments in Santurtzi and Portugalete.
This individual was located last Tuesday in Santurtzi by officers from the Muskiz police station, who proceeded with his arrest for robbery with force.
