The Bilbao City Council has approved a 135,000 euro call for Humanitarian and Emergency Action programs in 2026, aimed at supporting populations affected by natural disasters and conflicts.

The Bilbao City Council, through its Human Rights, Coexistence, Cooperation, and Interculturality Area, has approved the call for aid for Humanitarian and Emergency Action programs for 2026, with a total economic allocation of 135,000 euros. The initiative aims to support interventions for populations affected by natural disasters, armed conflicts, and other humanitarian crises, contributing to saving lives, protecting rights, and reducing vulnerability.
Each project can receive between 25,000 and 35,000 euros, potentially covering up to 100% of its total cost if it meets the established requirements. Among the priorities for 2026 are initiatives focused on addressing the humanitarian needs arising from the earthquakes that occurred in Colombia in August 2026.
Organizations with headquarters or a permanent delegation in Bilbao, experience in cooperation and humanitarian action, and that develop awareness-raising and development cooperation activities in the city are eligible for this aid. Projects must be executed in countries receiving official development assistance or in internationally recognized emergency contexts, with the participation of local entities and the beneficiary population.
Interested entities can submit their applications from October 20 to November 3, 2026, through the Municipal Electronic Registry.
