The governing team of Basauri, composed of the PNV and PSE parties, has presented three allegations to the Bizkaibus draft project to modify connections in the region. The City Council has also incorporated proposals from EH Bildu, the main opposition party in the plenary. The requests focus on improving frequencies for the San Miguel neighborhood and considering the Sarratu station as intermodal.
In general terms, the Council believes that the draft project's design does not sufficiently integrate the urban and mobility transformation process that Basauri is currently undergoing. "The access of residents to a transport system that allows them to connect with the metro network from the different neighborhoods of the town depends on this reorganization proposal," highlighted the mayor, Asier Iragorri.
Regarding the future Sarratu station, "which will turn this area into one of the main mobility hubs in the province," municipal officials believe Bizkaibus "must anticipate this situation" and request "that intermodality between different modes of transport be considered, so that different operators establish stops at this communication node."
The second and third allegations address the needs of the residents of San Miguel, who currently have a shuttle service to connect with the metro. To avoid "duplication of services," the Council aims to integrate into the new Bizkaibus mobility model but considers that the schedules contemplated in the draft project "are insufficient on the San Miguel-Town Hall-Kalero-Sarratu axis."
Therefore, it is requested "at a minimum to maintain current frequencies and progressively evolve towards fifteen or twenty-minute frequencies." Finally, they also request early connection with the suburban train with a service "before 5:45 AM."
For its part, the Zaratamo City Council has also made its contributions to the draft project. Among its main requests is the extension of line A3622: "We ask that, instead of ending in Arkotxa, it be extended to Galdakao, as close as possible to a metro station." Similarly, on the same line, they demand stops in the San Vicente, Larrikao, Uriondo, Mendieta, Moiordin, and Barrondo areas.
In addition, they also want the schedules of this vehicle to be coordinated with other means of transport: Renfe, Euskotren, and metro. Finally, they claim a link between basic services and the Galdakao-Usansolo Hospital and an expansion of the hourly offer, "especially in the first and last services, as well as on weekends."
