The Basque Cycling Federation initiated the process to elect a new board of directors in early March, following the resignation of president Raul Mena Rodriguez and his committee. On April 1, two candidacies were presented, one of which is led by Santi Osoro Ramos (Ataun, 1969).
On April 13, the extraordinary general assembly of the Basque Federation held a vote between the two candidacies. Osoro's list received 73 votes, while the candidacy led by Jon Sarasua Agirre obtained 45 votes. With this result, Osoro is positioned as the leading candidate for the presidency.
The winning candidacy has been provisionally selected. A three-day period is now open for submitting claims. The Electoral Committee will make the final decision on Friday, after this period has elapsed.
The list led by Santi Osoro Ramos includes Axier Oiarzabal Arbaizagoitia as vice-president, Ibon Garcia Caballero as treasurer, and Urko Barriola Etxeberria and Elene Gaztelu Deba as board members. The substitutes are Iñaki Telleria Otegi, Joseba Gorostiza Abendaño, Egoitz Otegi Erauskin, Irantzu Solaguren Martinez, and Emilio Sanchez Alonso.
