Following the success of its inaugural edition last year, the Sukatloia duathlon returns with renewed vigor to Ordizia. This event, organized by the Sukajugar cuadrilla, will bring together over twenty pairs, in addition to three individual participants.
This year's edition introduces new features, opening participation to all cuadrillas in Ordizia. The route has also been modified to be “tougher,” according to the organizers, and will consist of two sectors: 7.5 kilometers by bicycle and 11 kilometers on foot.
The race will start at 10:30 AM from the statue of Fray Andrés, ascending by bicycle towards Lazkaomendi via Okorro. From there, participants will descend to Zaldibia and, through the Egileor neighborhood, climb towards Akapulko. The team change will occur before reaching Olakosaroi, to run up to Gaztelu. At the summit, they must collect a necklace to prove their passage. The descent will follow the same path, with another relay, to complete the same route back to Ordizia, finishing at the goal located at Fray Andrés.
As last year, a popular meal has been organized for participants and fans in the small fronton, expected to gather around 250 people. The awards ceremony will take place during the meal, and the atmosphere will be enlivened by the group Perejilak. In the afternoon, from 6:30 PM, Distopia elektrotxaranga will perform, marking their return in Ordizia after a two-year hiatus. Although good weather is hoped for, organizers are prepared to ensure the festivities are not dampened by rain, should it appear.
Following the success of this second edition, made possible by the sponsorship of Zesatek and various commercial establishments, plans are already underway for next year's event, with the intention of extending participation to other municipalities in Goierri.
