This year's edition will cover 28 kilometers with an accumulated elevation gain of 1,200 meters, offering participants a series of technical descents. As explained by Etor Garate, a member of the Piñu-koku association, "we will ride in the areas of Azkonabieta, Goikomendi, and Erdella, with Erdella being the novelty."
The march will start from Elgeta's main square at 09:00 AM. Last year's edition gathered 120 participants, and a large turnout is expected again this year. Registrations are open on the Kirolprobak.com platform, but it will also be possible to register on the day of the event. Federated riders who register in advance will pay 20 euros, while non-federated riders will pay 25 euros. Those who sign up on the day will have a fee of 30 euros.
“"We try to prepare something new every year, and this year the first descent will be new. It took us quite some time to make it, but it's ready, and everyone will have the opportunity to try it. Let's see what people think."
The itinerary will include six main descents. They will start from the square and head to San Roman by road. Then, they will climb from Gurutz to Erdella and descend from the summit to the track near the Lapurdi farmhouse, which is this year's main novelty. Afterwards, they will return to the gaztetxe and, after circling Goikomendi, will reach Karabieta to perform the descent inaugurated last year. They will continue towards Azkonabieta to do the descent before Azurtza, which was first used two years ago.
For the fourth descent of the day, they will climb back to Azkonabieta, but from a different spot this year, and will perform the descent to the Arraoz bend, the oldest descent of the association. They will climb to the Arraoz farmhouse and then do the fifth descent, called Txitxarea. To finish, cyclists will ascend to Armendigain, between Karabieta and Goimendi, and from there they will perform the descent towards Aixola, concluding the march back at the gaztetxe.
The organizers have announced that there will be an area for cleaning bicycles and that the sports center's showers will be available. Additionally, a txitxi-burruntzia (barbecue) will be held at the end of the march. On April 11, the Itzulia peloton will pass through Elgeta twice, specifically through Asentzio, at 2:15 PM and 5:15 PM, as part of the Antzuola-Bergara stage. This will offer a "great opportunity" to enjoy a "full-day plan."
