This year's edition will include four concerts at the Antxo hermitage, all at 7:30 PM, and the last one at the Igartubeiti farmhouse in Ezkioko, at 6:00 PM. A free bus service will be available to attend the concerts, departing from Elizkale at 7:00 PM for the first four concerts and at 5:30 PM for the last one.
The first performance will be this Saturday, by the string quartet Quatuor Arod, which has performed in major venues worldwide. On September 12th, it will be the turn of the Oñati Ganbara Choir, formed in 1994 and boasting an extensive repertoire. On September 19th, Carles Blanch and Pedro Estevan will perform, interpreting music from the empire of Charles V. To conclude the concerts in Zumárraga, the Barcelona quintet Kambrass Quintet will perform on September 26th.
The final concert will take place at Igartubeiti on October 3rd. There, the Zumaiarra artist Andoni Salamero, accompanied by Andoni Egaña, Mixel Ducau, and Caroline Phillips, will present the show "Baserri minez…".
This year's cycle was presented today in Antxo. The event was attended by the mayor Mikel Serrano, the Deputy of Culture Goizane Alvarez, and the director of the Oñati Ganbara Choir, Aitor Biain. Serrano recalled that the Antxo cycle has featured great musicians, such as Ainhoa Arteta, Xabier Lete, Spanish Brass, and Kalakan.
Alvarez stated that the Provincial Council strives to bring music to all corners of Gipuzkoa, "because music helps to open doors." Biain, for his part, described it as a "great pleasure" to participate in this cycle in such a "privileged space," where they will sing "works ranging from baroque to contemporary music, aiming to showcase the power of the voice." He added, "It is important for a choir to participate in this cycle, as the choral world is not currently in vogue."
