The initiative, promoted by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the Durangaldea Mancomunidad, and the city councils of Amorebieta-Etxano, Mallabia, and Ermua, is part of the Bizkaia Gazteak Durangaldea program. Its aim is to foster youth creativity and participation in ideas for improving the local environment. Registration is open from October 13th to November 30th, and projects can be submitted until December 15th.
This year, the competition features a main innovation: it includes ten real challenges proposed by companies in the region. Participants will need to present their ideas or propose solutions related to sustainable mobility, improvement of industrial estates, attracting young talent, and entrepreneurship.
Gaztekimen will distribute a total of €2,400 in prizes: €1,000 for the best original idea, another €1,000 for the best response to a business challenge, and €400 for the best presentation. A jury will select ten finalist projects, evaluating originality, impact, inclusion, and viability.
Teams will receive mentoring to improve their proposals during January 2027, and the competition will conclude in February 2027 with an awards ceremony in Durango. At the ceremony, finalists will give presentations of a maximum of five minutes.
Interested individuals can register until November 30th, 2026, via the form at https://bit.ly/gaztekimen2026. The deadline for submitting projects is December 15th, and proposals must be sent to gaztekimen2026@gmail.com, indicating the participation number assigned upon registration.
