Following the extension of the deadline for submitting appeals until May 4th, the signature collection against the large-scale Ikatz Gane wind project, intended for installation between Hernani and Arano, continues to gain momentum. Organizers report an "overwhelming" reception, with 1,815 signatures already supporting their stance. The goal is to reach 2,500 appeals by the campaign's conclusion.
Activity surrounding the signature drive has been intense. The response at the Hernani fair was described as "fantastic," with hundreds of citizens eagerly approaching the tent to participate. The Urumeako Mendiak Bizirik platform stated that collection points in various municipalities have requested more signature sheets, and new messages are constantly received via email. In addition to Hernani, signatures are being gathered in locations such as Goizueta, Arano, Ereñotzu, Urnieta, Herrera, Donostia, Tolosa, and Leitza.
We are getting a fantastic response. The reception of the initiative at the Hernani fair was overwhelming; hundreds of citizens approached the tent, one after another, eager to participate. We have often been called from the signature collection points in each municipality asking us to bring more sheets; and every time we open the email there is a new message.
Informative meetings have also been organized. This Thursday, a meeting will take place in Ereñotzu at 7:30 PM to discuss the project's location, access roads, and plans. A similar meeting was held in Osiñaga last Sunday. On April 18th, the signature collection will move to Ulia mountain park, where a full day of activities is planned under the slogan 'Lurraren defentsan' (In defense of the Earth), from eleven in the morning until after five in the afternoon. Finally, signatures can also be submitted on April 23rd at the weekly market in Hernani.
