The works, which began in July 2025, were halted in September due to technical problems related to ground resistance, which did not match the initial project's specifications. This situation necessitated drafting a modified project to adapt the intervention to the actual soil conditions.
The process required various administrative procedures that took longer than expected, delaying the reactivation of the works. With this hurdle overcome, construction activity has restarted and will continue according to the new technical plan.
The Urnieta City Council has continuously monitored the project to unblock the situation and accelerate its execution. The Council considers this a strategic infrastructure and has announced that it will maintain supervision of the works to ensure their proper development.
“"The Department of Education conveyed its commitment to try and reduce the execution times, initially estimated at 24 months."
The new ESO building is set to play a key role in the municipality's educational offerings. Its implementation will provide Urnieta with adequate facilities for the Secondary stage and improve students' learning conditions. Furthermore, once completed, the Egape center will form an integrated school campus, concentrating Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Education stages in one space. This model will optimize resources and strengthen educational continuity within the municipality.
