The Aretxabaleta City Council and its educational centers have relaunched the 'School Agenda 2030' initiative, centered on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year's main focus will be 'Emotional Well-being', promoting active student participation.

This educational program, based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aims to promote the environmental, social, and economic sustainability of the municipality by fostering active student participation and directly linking the educational community with local realities. 'School Agenda 2030' is a project that extends beyond the classroom, offering a space to address global challenges from a local perspective.
This academic year, the initiative will focus on 'Emotional Well-being', directly linked to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). By choosing these objectives, the aim is to provide local responses to the challenges of climate change and sustainability, promoting citizen well-being and strengthening the balance between the natural and social environment.
Last year, the municipalities of Aretxabaleta and Eskoriatza conducted a diagnosis of youth emotional well-being with the help of schools, which led to the selection of this topic for the Agenda. Scientific studies show that nature, green spaces, and accessible, safe environments have a direct and positive impact on people's mental health.
Students are at the core of the process. Throughout the year, they will analyze various areas of the town, identifying strengths and areas for improvement. Based on this diagnosis, they will organize and carry out a transformative action at both municipal and school levels. At the end of the year, they will present their work to local authorities, offering specific improvement proposals.
The program involves Aretxabaleta's Kurtzebarri LH and DBH schools, teachers, students, and City Council representatives. The first public step of the project will be on November 4th, when student representatives will hold the first Municipal Forum at the town hall to meet with local authorities.
