Euskalmet has issued a red alert in Aretxabaleta today, from 12:00 to 20:00. The Aretxabaleta City Council has urged residents to take precautions against the heatwave.

Among the recommendations provided by the council are to avoid outdoor activities during the specified hours, drink water frequently even without feeling thirsty, stay in cool or air-conditioned places, and wear light clothing, a hat, and use sun protection. Special attention should be paid to the elderly, children, and chronically ill individuals.
The council has also designated heat shelters for these hours, offering citizens places to protect themselves from the oppressive heat. The list includes Arkupe Culture House, Ibarara Sports Center, the Convent Garden, the water features in front of the sports center, the park after Santa Kurtz, and the promenade along the Deba River, near the sports center.
Furthermore, it has been announced that the town hall itself will be open to the public. Council representatives are calling for self-care and care for others, and request that the number 112 be called in case of any emergency.
