EH Bildu has firmly stated that the concessionaire company for the Errezabal residence project in Elgoibar must bear all costs arising from the work stoppage and the damages suffered by homes and the road in the Urazandi neighborhood.

The Basque nationalist coalition emphasized that the company, Sociedad Concesionaria Residencia El Pilar, S.L., should not receive any compensation for the temporary suspension of works, even though the company itself requested it. This stance was articulated in the last plenary session of the Elgoibar City Council, where it was argued that the company is responsible for the cracks and landslides caused by the initial earth movements of the project.
Following the appearance of initial cracks, which caused damage to homes in the Urazandi neighborhood and the adjacent road, the concessionaire company and the Elgoibar City Council agreed to monitor the situation. However, it was confirmed that the slope's stability was worse than initially predicted in geotechnical studies, leading the company to request a temporary suspension of works from April 1 to address the issue. This measure will be accompanied by a project review to prevent unforeseen risks.

"These first two points appear in the text proposed by PNV and PSE-EE, but not imperatively, nor as part of the document to be signed with the company. Furthermore, we requested that the petition be signed by the company itself, as the deficiencies of the work, the damages caused, and the delay are a consequence of the poorly executed project by the company itself."

EH Bildu
Weeks after that plenary session, EH Bildu expressed its concern following a meeting between the municipal government and local social agents. At this meeting, which members of the party attended without an invitation, it was noted that, contrary to what was approved in the plenary, the decision on who would cover the costs of the work suspension and the new project was still undecided, leaving open the possibility that the costs resulting from the company's errors could fall on the City Council.
These doubts also extend to the repair of damages in buildings adjacent to the plot, sidewalks, and the Urazandi road, a matter on which, according to EH Bildu, the municipal government has not yet provided a response.
