The PNV in Berriz has unanimously selected Beñat Aguado, a 29-year-old, as its candidate for Mayor in the upcoming 2027 municipal elections. This decision marks a change of cycle for the jeltzale party, following the extensive four consecutive terms served by former mayor Orlan Isoird.
Aguado expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him and stated that he approaches this new phase with enthusiasm, responsibility, and a strong desire to work for the municipality. Key priorities will include facilitating access to housing for Berriz's youth through the promotion of protected and affordable housing, as well as renovating and improving the older areas of the town to make it more accessible and attractive.
The PNV emphasizes its commitment to a close governance model, ensuring a presence in all neighborhoods, including Andikona, Eitua, Murgoitio, Okango, Sallobente, and Sarria.
Born and raised in Berriz, Aguado represents a generation that intimately understands the local reality and the challenges faced by young people and families in developing their personal projects. He has always been involved in the local social and associative fabric and comes from a family with a long history of public and neighborhood involvement.
Academically and professionally, he is completing his studies in Industrial Automation and Robotics, complemented by work experience in areas such as educational leisure, customer service, and the automotive sector. He currently presides over the Organization Commission of the Berriz City Council, overseeing the Finance department and participating in the development of budgets, ordinances, and municipal economic management. He also serves as president of the cultural association Berrizko Gaztedi Kultur Taldea.
