Ezker Anitza-Izquierda Unida and PCE-EPK will celebrate the 95th anniversary of the Second Republic in Eibar on Sunday, April 12, emphasizing the city's historical significance and a message of peace.

Eibar holds a unique place in the history of the Second Republic, being the first city to proclaim it on April 14, 1931. Consequently, Ezker Anitza-Izquierda Unida and PCE-EPK will once again place the 'armory city' at the center of republican memory with this commemoration.
The day will serve not only to reclaim this symbolic and historical value but also to convey a message relevant to current international affairs. In a context described by the organizing bodies as particularly turbulent and marked by war, the event will emphasize «no to war» and the «defense of peace and life».

"The republic is, in my opinion, the only form of state capable of opening a process of democratic deepening."

Arantza González · Coordinator of Ezker Anitza-IU
Arantza González, coordinator of Ezker Anitza-IU, stated during the event's presentation that the republic advocates for a model of democracy that is «real, participatory, secular, plurinational, integral, and transparent,» ensuring a dignified life for all citizens. She also highlighted Eibar's significance as a city deeply connected to the republican tradition within this claim.
The events will commence at 10:00 AM in Cardenal Orbe square in Ermua, from where a march will proceed to Untzaga square, where the political act will take place.
