On International Workers' Day, various unions have organized demonstrations in Álava, protesting against war, the rising cost of living, and advocating for labor rights.

This year's May Day slogans will bring several important issues to the forefront, such as criticism of war, the increasing cost of living, the need for decent wages and pensions, and the strengthening of public services. Additionally, the precarious employment affecting young people and women will be denounced.
The unions LAB, UGT, CCOO, ESK, Steilas, CNT, and CGT have organized midday demonstrations in Álava. These calls come in a special context, following months of intense mobilizations in the industrial sector (at companies like Tubos Reunidos and Maderas de Llodio) and in the public sector (such as the conflict in Álava's social intervention sector).
The general strike in March saw significant participation, with thousands of people taking to the streets to demand better working conditions. The unions ELA, LAB, and ESK have expressed their intention to continue this line of mobilization, strengthening the defense of workers' rights.

"This May 1st, workers will take to the streets to show both governments and employers that we will not accept them continuing to enrich themselves at our expense, while impoverishing us. Even less so, that all this is done by justifying wars and imperialist interventions, by acting or by turning a blind eye."

CCOO and UGT have highlighted that they face this May Day in an unknown and turbulent international scenario, where political decisions and the madness of warmongers are overturning global rules of the game. Domestically, they have firmly defended the continuation of social dialogue in Euskadi, considering it the most effective tool to provide certainty in times of uncertainty.
For its part, LAB will hold 26 demonstrations across Euskal Herria under the slogan 'Langileok eragin' (Workers act). In addition to the Vitoria-Gasteiz demonstration, it has also organized mobilizations in Oion and Llodio. The unions ESK, Steilas, CNT, and CGT will mobilize jointly in a demonstration that will depart from the Europa Palace, under the slogan 'Langileok batu, inperialismoaren kontra, bizitzaren alde' (Workers unite, against imperialism, for life).
