Osakidetza will launch the new outpatient clinic in Llodio on Monday, September 21st, to serve the residents of this municipality and surrounding areas, totaling over 41,700 people. The new facility, situated at San Martín street, 10, offers more space and modern installations to meet the population's healthcare needs, integrating primary care with other services like outpatient consultations and the mental health center.
With an approximate investment of 19 million euros from the Department of Health of the Basque Government, the 7-story building (two underground, ground floor, and four above ground) spans a total constructed area of 7,972 square meters, significantly increasing its care capacity compared to the current health center on Zumalakarregi street. Notably, it includes an underground parking facility with nearly 70 spaces for staff, facilitating their access to work.
Construction began in late 2023 and concluded this summer. After equipping the clinic, Osakidetza plans to open its doors on Monday, September 21st, and has already started scheduling patient appointments for the new building.
The new outpatient clinic is part of Osakidetza's 2025-2032 Health Infrastructure and Equipment Program, with a budget of 1.6 billion euros. It aligns with the Basque Health Plan, which prioritizes strengthening Primary Care among its strategic infrastructure lines.
The new outpatient clinic, part of the OSI Barrualde-Galdakao, will serve as the regional reference health center, providing comprehensive care to avoid unnecessary travel to hospitals. Its service portfolio will include: Primary Care (Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Nursing), a Continuous Care Point (PAC) for emergencies, Maternal-Child Area (Gynecology, Midwifery), Rehabilitation (Physiotherapy), Specialized Medicine (Neurology, Cardiology, etc.), Radiology, Mental Health (Psychiatry, Psychology), Research, and Home Care.
By launching this resource, Osakidetza reinforces its commitment to modernizing local healthcare, providing Llodio and its surrounding municipalities with a top-tier health infrastructure ready to meet present and future population needs.
