The Basque Government has announced an investment of nearly 440,000 euros to modernize the port of Elantxobe, with repair work on the mooring area set to begin in the coming weeks.

The Basque Government, through the public entity Euskadiko Kirol Portuak (EKP), has launched a plan to improve the port of Elantxobe with an investment totaling almost 440,000 euros. This initiative aims to optimize port management and modernize its facilities to meet the standards of other ports in Euskadi.
Work to repair the mooring area, which accommodates nearly 100 recreational boats throughout the year, will commence in the coming weeks. A sum of 394,483.85 euros will be allocated for these works, with an estimated duration of two months, expected to be completed by early July. Previously, 43,726.66 euros have already been invested in renovating the dock pavement, repairing the crane, and acquiring safety equipment.

"Our objective is to guarantee an organized, safe port fully integrated into the EKP network, without altering the daily life of the municipality."

To minimize the impact of the works, the material storage area and the construction shed will be located in the dry dock area, next to the port crane. This measure will allow the daily routines of the Elantxobe population to continue in an area that has become a meeting point for its residents and visitors.
EKP has also offered support to affected vessels. For those wishing to relocate to the Getxo marina, EKP will cover the additional mooring costs for the duration of the works. For those unable or unwilling to relocate, the entity will cover the costs of lifting and launching so that owners can move their boats as they deem fit.
