Young Ekaitz Bertiz, from Sunbilla, has worked as a directing assistant and made a cameo in 'La Bola Negra', the latest film by Los Javis, which won an award at Cannes.

Ekaitz Bertiz, a 22-year-old from Sunbilla, primarily known for his short films, expressed his excitement after participating in 'La Bola Negra', the latest feature by directors Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, which received an award at the Cannes Film Festival.
Bertiz served as a directing assistant on the film and also had a cameo role. "It has been a dream," the young filmmaker stated, emphasizing that his first professional project alongside notable figures like Penélope Cruz and Los Javis is "something huge".
He joined the pre-production phase and spent two months at the Madrid office, getting to know the actors and directors. "That gave me a certain sense of security," he admitted. During the shoot, he worked with actors such as Miguel Bernardeau, Guitarricadelafuente, and Penélope Cruz, describing the days as "tough, very long".
His appearance in the film lasts only five seconds, but he is featured in the trailer. "I'm the first soldier you see when Guitarrica opens the door," he explained. Although he couldn't attend Cannes, he followed the festival "live".
This is proving to be a special year for Bertiz. In addition to the Cannes award, his short film Erreka zoko hortan received recognition at the FANT festival in Bilbao, where Lorena Mariñelarena won the award for best actress in the Basque short film section.
