The Councilor for Sport, Ana López de Uralde, participated in the ceremony, where the effort made yesterday by the triathletes was acknowledged. The councilor presented the awards to Frenchman Damián Le Mesnager and Australian Natalie Van Coevorden. Both athletes were the first to cross the finish line yesterday in the Plaza de España, in the debut of the IRONMAN 70.3 race, held for the first time in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Before the ceremony began, a minute of silence was observed in memory and tribute to an athlete who passed away during the swimming segment of yesterday's race.
