These figures were discussed during a municipal committee meeting in Vitoria-Gasteiz, where the Cleaning councilor responded to a question from an Elkarrekin party representative. The data presented shows 17 reports in 2023, 13 in 2024, and 18 in 2025. In stark contrast, sanctions were limited to one in 2023, one in 2024, and two in 2025.
Adding to this concern, a report by Ecologistas en Acción identifies 26 sites with illegal dumping within the municipality of Vitoria-Gasteiz. This issue affects both the city and its peri-urban areas and green spaces. The abandoned waste primarily consists of construction and renovation debris, ranging from small piles near public roads to larger accumulations in areas where dumping is a recurring problem.
